This is a good question. A pantiliner is a very thin sanitary pad that you stick to your panties. It is used to prevent discharge from staining your panties or pants. You can wear it while using a tampon as a precaution. Or you can wear it when you don not have your period to soak up any possible discharge.

A pad is an absorbent pad worn externally by a girl or woman to soak up blood and other menstrual discharge. They are worn only for the duration of your period.

A tampon is plug of absorbent material such as cotton that is inserted into the vagina during you period. It absorbs the blood from menstruation.

You should replace all of the above at least once daily. Depending on how much you discharge per day you should change them every few hours.

You can buy all of these at any drug store, supermarket or other stores like those.

What you wear depends totally on what you feel comfortable wearing, and what is necessary to stay clean.
