Being on your period is not always a walk in the park. Sometimes it can cause you to feel very uncomfortable and it becomes very easy to be annoyed or irritated. When you are on your period your body doesn’t feel so great all the time. When you don’t feel well and on top of that someone is telling you to do something that you don’t want to do you can become irritated about it. It is not unusual for girls to become easily angered or irritated when on their period.

Since you experience all sorts of discomforts when on your period it’s not that easy to be happy or relaxed. If someone comes at you with a wrong word or wrong comment it can easily lead into an argument that you wouldn’t get into if you weren’t on your period.

For example, you wake up, you realize you just started your period which now means you have to wear an outfit to school that will hide your bloated stomach and on top of that you have very sharp stomach cramps. You also notice when you look into the mirror that you just broke out with three huge pimples. Oh grand, this will be a lovely day. And not to mention, today just happens to be the day you are supposed to be performing in the school play alongside your crush. Isn’t life just awesome some days? And then when you get to school all your friends are like man you look different today..what happened? Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed? And that’s all it takes to just make you explode and storm out of class with all your friends thinking you are crazy. But guess what? The reason you got so annoyed by such a little thing is because you feel terrible and it’s hard to be happy and relaxed when your body feels terrible.

So don’t think that you’re crazy or that something is wrong with you when you get easily irritated while on your period. It happens to the best of us.

For every girl the things that you can get while on your period are different. Some girls experience discomforts and some don’t experience any discomforts at all. One of the most common discomforts girls experience are stomach cramps. These are muscle spasms that occur in the lower stomach area due to the different things going on in your body during the menstrual cycle. A supplement that helps with stomach cramps which is completely natural is called Calcium Magnesium. This supplement relaxes your body, and can be bought in any regular supermarket as well as at Wal-mart.

There are a lot of other discomforts that can occur. Some include, lower back pains, nausea, hot and cold flashes, food cravings, headaches, sweating way more than normal, bloating, breaking out, bad hair days, side pains, feeling faint and possible blackouts.

Even though it may be hot where you are some girls will tend to get cold either right before their period or on their period. And if they are in a place that is cold they will get hot. This is normal and is nothing you should worry about, it will go away after your period is over.

Some girls experience lower back pains of all different sorts. Some pains are very sharp and last only for a little and some are not so sharp and last for a while. Something that helps with the back pains is doing some light stretching or swimming.

Some girls experience tremendous food cravings. For example, some girls must absolutely have chocolate. Its incredible, your body just wants some specific food. Some girls crave salty foods or ice cream. Its nothing bad and you shouldn’t worry about it.

There are probably more discomforts that one could experience in addition to the ones that I mentioned. But something to keep in mind is that sometimes you can have all the discomforts at once, or maybe you just get some of them and there are those times when you could get none of them. If you don’t experience any discomfort while on your period or before it, that is totally fine and is something you should be happy about.

One tip that I can give from experience is that while you are on your period you should get plenty of food and rest, also drink lots of water. I discourage taking any sort of medication to ease the pain from your period. If you just eat healthy and take Calcium Magnesium you should be fine.

Your period will not always come on the same day as it did the month before. Sometimes your period might come a little earlier or sometimes it might come a little later. Some girls might not get their period for 2 months and then get it again.

If you didn’t have sex and your period is late than that is totally fine. There is nothing wrong with getting your period a little late. If you did have sex and you were supposed to get your period, but it hasn’t come. You should get it checked out and just make sure you aren’t pregnant.

Some girls have irregular periods, meaning that some months they do get their period and some months they don’t. Girls can be irregular and then switch over to being regular. It just depends on how you nourish your body and how your body develops.

Sometimes your period could come later one month due to a change in your diet. If one month you eat really healthy and then the next month you eat a lot of junk food your period could change when it comes just due to the different types of food you are eating. Also another thing that could affect your period coming late is if you travel to a different place that has a different climate.

So just remember that if you period doesn’t come right on the day you expected it to come, that is totally fine and it will still come. If you have your period and then you don’t get it for a couple months you should go see your doctor and just make sure that everything else in your body is running well. But just know that sometimes you wont get your period and that is nothing to be worried about because your body is still developing and is going through a lot of changes.

When you are on your period you can definitely use a tampon and a pantiliner at the same time to ensure extra protection. You can also wear a tampon and a pad together at the same time while on your period. You would use a pad and tampon together if your flow is really heavy or if you just want to be very, very protected. There would never be a scenario where you would have to use a pad, tampon and pantyliner at the same time. Just think about it…does it make sense to wear a pantyliner, tampon and a pad at the same time? No it doesn’t. You have to choose a pad or a pantyliner and if you need then you can wear a tampon with whichever one you choose to wear. Sometimes you might prefer to wear a tampon with a pantyliner or sometimes you might want to wear a pad along with your tampon. It just depends on what you feel like and how much protection you want.

I recommend using a tampon and pantyliner at the same time, since using these two together does increase your protection against blood stains. If you plan on sleeping with a tampon it would be best to wear a pad also, since sometimes during the night your flow of blood could suddenly increase. Also wearing a tampon to sleep means that the tampon is left to do all the work of absorbing blood for about 6 hours, having a pad there is just a good thing in case the tampon fills up after 5 hours. Have you ever woken up with your underwear and sheets stained? Chances are that you most likely have. In order to prevent those totally irritating mornings where you wake up with blood everywhere, just wear a tampon and a pad for extra protection.

There is no age requirement for wearing pantyliners or tampons. The only requirement for wearing a pantyliner is that of course you have some sort of discharge that you want the pantyliner to absorb. And the requirement for wearing a tampon would be that you would need to be on your period. Some girls start their period at age 11 or even younger.

If they want to wear a tampon at age 11 when they start their period, that’s totally fine. If they want to wait until they are a little older that is fine too. Some girls don’t start their period until age 16 and they can of course wear a tampon then or whenever they feel ready to. Tampons are made to help you on your period and there is no age restriction on them. If you have you period, then feel free to use tampons. If you have some sort of vaginal discharge once again, feel free to use panty liners. Maybe some girls are embarrassed to ask their moms for tampons since they think they are too young and maybe they think that only teenagers and women wear tampons. But the truth is that once you have your period you are ready for tampons, since they are made for periods.

If you are very young and you have you period and you are embarrassed about this, don’t be. Getting your period in an early age is totally fine and just means that your body is developing into a woman’s body faster than other girls. If you are very young and you get your period do make sure that you eat healthy and drink lots of water, since your body is going through changes and needs plenty of nutrients.
