When you are on your period you can definitely use a tampon and a pantiliner at the same time to ensure extra protection. You can also wear a tampon and a pad together at the same time while on your period. You would use a pad and tampon together if your flow is really heavy or if you just want to be very, very protected. There would never be a scenario where you would have to use a pad, tampon and pantyliner at the same time. Just think about it…does it make sense to wear a pantyliner, tampon and a pad at the same time? No it doesn’t. You have to choose a pad or a pantyliner and if you need then you can wear a tampon with whichever one you choose to wear. Sometimes you might prefer to wear a tampon with a pantyliner or sometimes you might want to wear a pad along with your tampon. It just depends on what you feel like and how much protection you want.
I recommend using a tampon and pantyliner at the same time, since using these two together does increase your protection against blood stains. If you plan on sleeping with a tampon it would be best to wear a pad also, since sometimes during the night your flow of blood could suddenly increase. Also wearing a tampon to sleep means that the tampon is left to do all the work of absorbing blood for about 6 hours, having a pad there is just a good thing in case the tampon fills up after 5 hours. Have you ever woken up with your underwear and sheets stained? Chances are that you most likely have. In order to prevent those totally irritating mornings where you wake up with blood everywhere, just wear a tampon and a pad for extra protection.
